The Classic Donut Now Offered With Cream Filling
Celebrating its 50th anniversary, Krispy Kreme decided to do something a little different with one of its most famous doughnuts. Not only did the doughnut chain give away free doughnuts on Saturday, June 22, Krispy Kreme offered customers its new Original Filled – an original glazed doughnut stuffed with delicious cream on the inside.
The cream comes in two flavors: Classic Kreme and Chocolate Kreme. According to Dave Skena, Chief Marketing Officer for Krispy Kreme Doughnut Corp., “Krispy Kreme was at the launch of Apollo 11, serving fresh doughnuts to Americans witnessing liftoff of this monumental mission.”
Skena went on to say that the new taste experience is “melt-in-your-mouth delicious.”
Although June 22 came and went, Krispy Kreme did say that if it gave away a million donuts that day, it would have another donut giveaway day. So keep your fingers crossed because we may get more delicious treats for breakfast in the future.
In other news, Krispy Kreme announced that it would be opening a flagship store in Times Square – a 4,500-square-foot location at 48th Street and Broadway by “early 2020.” The store is set to feature a “doughnut theater experience,” in which visitors can watch the doughnut making process in stadium-style seating. The store will also feature a doughnut-glaze “waterfall,” and the new location will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
