Luke Perry — former star of the “Beverly Hills, 90210” franchise and who currently plays Fred Andrews on “Riverdale” — was hospitalized on Feb. 27 after reportedly suffering a “massive” stroke.
Paramedics responded to Perry’s home in Sherman Oaks around 9:40 a.m.. It’s unclear what his condition is right now, but sources connected to Perry told TMZ that doctors have placed the actor in a medically induced coma.
The news of Perry’s hospitalization came a day after Fox announced a “90210” reboot that will star all the original stars of the show with the exception of Shannen Doherty and Perry.
The “Beverly Hills, 90210” gang and other celebrities turned to social media on Feb. 28 to express support for Perry. Actor Ian Ziering called for his followers to “say a prayer” for Perry, 52, whose representative said is “currently under observation at the hospital.”
Doherty also took to Instagram, saying, “My friend. Holding you tight and giving you my strength. You got this.”
Fox revealed it would air a “90210” limited series that will premiere this summer. Perry was not part of the announcement, but producers are leaving the door open for him and Doherty to join the six-episode series. Former “90210” stars Jason Priestley, Jennie Garth, Ian Ziering, Gabrielle Carteris, Brian Austin Green, and Tori Spelling have signed on for the project.
