Marvel Officially Renames ‘Fat Thor’ With New Nickname

Poking Fun At ‘Fat Thor’

Marvel is churning out more “Avengers: Endgame” stuff what with the second run featuring post-credit scenes hitting theaters and the film gearing up for its Blu-ray and digital releases. But on Wednesday some newly released and interesting information was revealed about one of the Avenger’s most beloved team members.

Marvel has officially named Thor’s overweight post-Infinity War snap self and his name is Bro Thor.
The name comes via one of the extras featured in the movie’s home-viewing versions. The mini-documentary, titled “Bro Thor,” explores Thor’s Big Lebowski transformation after he last faced off with Thanos.

Thor’s fat looks in the movie sparked criticism over fat shaming and the mean-spirited jokes Rocket slings his way. However, others applauded the decision to have Thor remain out of shape for the final fight scene, instead of reverting to his fit and ripped self.

As for Chris Hemsworth himself, he revealed that his superhero alter ego’s transformation from muscular to potbellied has-been in “Avengers: Endgame” has “energized” him. Originally Marvel was going to have Thor revert back to his Norse god self, but Hemsworth fought to keep the weight gain throughout the film because he felt that it added new dimension to the character.
