Are you ready for a fresh new face on daytime TV?

NBC has announced that Melissa McCarthy will replace Steve Harvey as the host of “Little Big Shots.” The comedy-variety show featuring children launched in 2016 and was executive-produced by Harvey and Ellen DeGeneres.

The news comes just days after NBC canceled Harvey’s daytime talk show “Steve.” The show will continue running until June. “Steve” will be replaced with “The Kelly Clarkson Show,” a music-infused syndicated talk show that is set to premiere on NBC this fall.

“Little Big Shots” showcases all sorts of artists like young musicians, singers, dancers and “every form of wunderkind in the country and go toe to toe with them in conversations and interviews, with hilarious results,” NBC said in a 2015 announcement of the series.

Harvey, who was the fifth highest-paid TV host in 2018, has anchored “Little Big Shots” since the reality show premiered in March 2016, but the network is hoping for a “completely fresh perspective,” which is why they hired McCarthy.

“Melissa’s just an incredible performer and incredible comedian,” said Paul Telegdy, NBC’s co-chairman of entertainment. “She will bring a completely fresh perspective to it.”

Melissa is a strong creative force with her own ideas,” Telegdy added. “Changes will be apparent.”
