Lisa of Blackpink calls out scamming ex-manager
Lisa from the popular K-pop group Blackpink was cheated out of an estimated $816,000 (one billion won) by her ex-manager who said that he wanted to invest in real estate. The group’s label YG Entertainment, said that the dispute had been “settled” and that the former manager ha returned “part” of the money to Lisa.
He also presented the K-pop idol with a detailed compensation plan to return the rest of the money. Neither Lisa nor her label made the issue a legal matter, according to YG. Local news claimed that Blackpink and their ex-manager had a close relationship since their debut in 2016.
Due to this and the group’s growing success, the ex-manager took advantage and tapped into Lisa’s money. Instead of investing in real estate like he said he would, the ex-manager reportedly spent the money gambling. The ex-manager has since left YG after the scandal became public.
“An extremely inappropriate incident took place between an artist and a manager,” YG said in a statement. “We will tighten rules and supervision to prevent the same thing from happening again.”
On a lighter note, Blackpink recently collaborated with American pop star Lady Gaga for her new track called “Sour Candy.” Since its release, the song has broken records on YouTube, amassing more than 40 million views.
“Sour Candy” is also the biggest debut for a song by a girl group on Spotify, accumulating more than 3 million streams the very first day of its release.
