Avocado Toast Sneakers Are Trending
Do you love anything and everything avocado toast? It’s a trend that has been sweeping the nation, and is especially popular with the millennials. In fact, it’s become so popular that the dish has made headlines in both good and bad ways.
For those not quite in the loop, avocado toast is a type of open sandwich or toast made with mashed avocado and salt, pepper, and citrus juice on top. Additional ingredients that can enhance the flavor are olive oil, red pepper flakes, feta, dukkah, bagel seasoning and more.
The younger generation is so obsessed with the dish that it has its own hashtag — #avocadotoast — on Instagrma with over 100,000 posts. Gwyneth Paltrow has been credited to be the source of the popularization of avocado toast, writing in her cookbook, “Truthfully this is one ‘recipe’ both Julia [co-author] and I make and eat most often! And it’s not even a recipe.”
Even Bon Appétit magazine published a recipe for “Your New Avocado Toast” in its January 2015 issue.
With avocado toast taking the world by storm, naturally there had to be some fashion gear to compliment the trend. Sneaker-obsessed people and foodies have a lot to be excited for because Saucony is now selling a sneaker inspired by millennials’ favorite food.
The men’s Shadow 6000 Avocado Toast is made of brown leather and what the company calls green “smashed avocado textured suede.” The shoe also features red-pepper flake speckle on the collar lining and a “Saucamole” shout-out on the heel.
This isn’t the first time Saucony has turned to a menu item for shoe inspiration. They literally brought to life ‘America runs on Dunkin’ in March 2018, right before the Boston Marathon, where they teamed with Dunkin’ Donuts to create a doughnut-themed sneaker, decorated with pictures of sprinkles, coffee and doughnuts and the DD logo.
