It seems Nicki Minaj has a new gig. “Variety” has reported that the Queens rapper has joined the returning cast of “Angry Birds Movie 2,” which includes Jason Sudeikis, Danny McBride, and Peter Dinklage as well as Leslie Jones, Awkwafina, Sterling K. Brown, Lil Rel Howery and more.
As of right now, there is no word on the character the “Pink Friday” rapper will be portraying, but it is speculated that she will play some kind of bird that may in fact be very angry. A few Minaj’s previous acting credits include “Ice Age: Continental Drift,” “The Other Woman,” and “Barbershop: The Next Cut.”
The Sony Animation sequel is scheduled to hit theaters on Aug. 16, 2019,“ which is the 10th anniversary of the hit game that has been downloaded more than 4 billion times.
“Angry Birds Movie 2” is being directed by Thurop Van Orman and co-directed by John Rice. John Cohen is producing the movie with Mary Ellen Bauder Andrews co-producing, and David Maisel and Catherine Winder acting as executive producer.
The first “Angry Birds” movie, which was released back in 2016, grossed $350 million worldwide, including $107.5 million domestically, in 2016. The film was set on an island populated entirely by happy, flightless birds — except for Red (voiced by Sudeikis), speedy Chuck (Gad), and Bomb (McBride). Hader will return as Leonard, king of the pigs, and Dinklage will voice the Mighty Eagle.
