Starting off the new year with an even bigger pizza eating challenge
To start off the new year, Papa John’s founder and former CEO, John Schnatter announced on Instagram that will break personal records and eat 50 pizzas in 30 days. His previous record was eating 40 pizzas in 30 days back in 2019.
His announcement first came in the form of an Instagram story that has since disappeared. But Schnatter also posted a photo of himself on his social media page, reiterating his commitment to the challenge. However, it was not revealed when exactly he would start the challenge.
Schnatter was booted from his position as CEO of Papa John’s in 2017 after receiving a lot of backlash over his criticism of NFL players kneeling during the national anthem, and in 2018, he stepped down as chairman after admitting to using a racial slur in a company conference call.
The ex-CEO also slammed the pizza chain for the perceived declining quality of its pizzas. In a TV interview with local news outlet WDRB News, Schnatter said, “I’ve had over 40 pizzas in the last 30 days. And it’s not the same pizza. It’s not the same product. It just doesn’t taste as good.”
Schnatter founded Papa John’s back in 1984 and it has since grown to become one of the world’s largest pizza delivery companies.
