With the exception of perhaps cats, pets don’t typically like waiting for meals. If there’s food in front of them, it needs to be in their stomach, or it’s not doing its job as food properly. We keep our food in containers that can’t be navigated without thumbs in an effort to prevent this, and for the most part, it works.
But necessity, as they say, is the mother of creativity. And when two macaws (and their little lovebird sidekick) deem it to be food time, it shall be food time. They may not have thumbs, but you’d be surprised how dexterous a pair of beaks can be.
