If the name Psy sounds familiar, that’s because you know him for his 2012 hit “Gangnam Style.” But the South Korean singer, rapper, songwriter, and record producer has moved on to bigger things this year as it was reported by Sports Seoul that Psy was starting his own record label.
According to Sports Seoul’s exclusive report on Jan. 22, Psy was actively recruiting idol trainees for his agency P-Nation. There is an auditioning process, and several trainees from other major agencies have reportedly transferred to P-Nation.
In May 2018, Psy left YG Entertainment after 8 years, and following the departure from YG, he established his own agency, P-Nation.
So far, Psy has recruited rapper Jessi, who on Jan. 25, posted to Instagram celebrating her new home with the message, “It’s official baby! #PNATION was good. Psy, thank you for having me #newbeginnings Thank you #jebbies for all your support and your patience.” Jessi also shared a video of herself officially stamping her exclusive contract with P-NATION.
Hyuna and E’Dawn, two idols who were booted out of their original label, Cube Entertainment, for dating, also found a new home in Psy’s record label. The news was confirmed on Jan. 27, following speculation that was caused when Psy followed E’Dawn’s personal Instagram account earlier this week.
Psy teased the announcement by uploading an image of two people’s hands after finalizing a contract. Eagle eyed fans speculated that it must have been HyunA and E’Dawn based on the tattoos and jewelry they were wearing, but Psy eventually confirmed the news with a second Instagram post.
Looks like great things are to come with P-Nation!
