One of cinema’s biggest mysteries might finally be solved
If you are a fan of Star Wars and have watched every movie that has come out, then you are probably one of those fans that have questioned the origin of Rey’s parents. Many hints and red herrings have been placed throughout the newer films that have been released, but no definitive answer has been revealed yet. But that’s about to change with the upcoming Star Wars Episode 9.
In an interview with USA Today, Daisy Ridley, who plays Rey in the Star Wars saga, said, “[Director J.J. Abrams] did say the question [over the identity of Rey’s parents] will be answered. So, at the end of the film, you know what the dealio is.”
Many fans thought the identity of Rey’s parents were revealed in “Star Wars: The Last Jedi,” and while some Jedi mind tricks were played, if observed closely, director Rian Johnson’s film did actually answer the mystery.
For those that can recall, Kylo Ren revealed that Rey’s parents were nobody important. In fact, the Sith Lord says that were “filthy junk traders, who sold [Rey] off for drinking money. They’re dead in a pauper’s grave in the Jakku desert.”
Johnson also addressed the topic in the past, saying that “Rise of Skywalker” would be open to changing who Rey’s parents are.
