Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree Revealed As A Sparse Spruce

The once full Christmas tree arrived as a sparse Spruce

Rockefeller Center is one of the biggest holiday destinations annually and is known for having one of the biggest Christmas trees in the U.S. but 2020 had other plans. After two days of traveling from Oneonta to Rockefeller Center, the heavy anticipation was met with disappointment over a less than full looking Christmas tree.

It appears that the tree didn’t hold well during the two-day drive and looked more like a Charlie Brown tree erected in Rockefeller Center. It didn’t take long for social media to take notice and gained a lot of attention for being symbolic of the year 2020.

Though some were quick to insult the tree some people are simply excited to celebrate the holidays to end 2020 with some holiday joy. The 75-foot Spruce Christmas tree was sourced from Daddy Al’s General Store property in Oneonta by the owner Paula Dicks and her family.

After the Spruce was cut down for transport, one of the workers discovered an adult-male Saw-whet owl that was transported to the Ravenbeard Wildlife Center. The wildlife center named the owl Rockefeller and he will be released in Saugerties after all health checks are cleared.

The Christmas tree will be decorated in the coming weeks with over five miles of lights and hundreds of ornaments. The official tree lighting ceremony will take place on December 2 without a live audience but will be broadcasted on NBC at 7: 00 P.M. EST.
