Starbucks Teams Up With Uber Eats
Ordering coffee just got a lot more convenient as Starbucks announced that it would be expanding its partnership with Uber Eats, aiming for nationwide delivery by early 2020. As of right now, only 11 cities offer the service; Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New York City, Orange County, San Francisco, Seattle and Washington, DC.
Starbucks first began offering delivery via Uber Eats in 2018 with pilots in Miami and Tokyo, and just this year in January, the company expanded to London and more U.S. cities. In China, the coffee giant already has a delivery service with Ele.me, an Alibaba-affiliated platform.
“Partnering with Uber Eats helps us take another step towards bringing Starbucks to customers wherever they are,” Starbucks Group President and COO Roz Brewer said in a statement.
People love Starbucks and the company’s coffee is one of the most popular items to be delivered with Uber Eats, so it makes sense for the companies to come together to expand their business.
Prior to working with Uber Eats, Starbucks partnered with Postmates in 2015 and the system was piloted in Seattle. Unfortunately, the test did not develop into a long-term business partnership.
In other news, Uber recently announced that it would be testing a new monthly subscription that includes unlimited free deliveries via their Uber Eats platform.
