It’s election season, and you know what that means: a bunch of politicians royally ticking off classic rock bands by co-opting their songs. (Who wouldn’t want the likes of Donald Trump and Sarah Palin to use their jams at speeches and rallies?)
Thankfully, Stephen Colbert and his pal Jack Black are here to smooth over the edges by offering a song that is “generic enough not to offend anyone, but generic enough to be loved by everyone.” The tune, tricked out with hip swings and cowboy-hat-wearing dancers, is super catchy and as splashy as the American flag: three basic colors and a bunch of boring shapes.
