This koala got its very own water sprinkler to beat the heat

When temperatures in Adelaide, South Australia, hit unbearable heights on Jan. 12, this little koala found himself stressing out — that is, until a kind stranger came along and set up his very own mini sprinkler system.

Reddit user notfinch was the mastermind behind the creative cool-down method, setting it up with an alternating ten minutes on, ten minutes off system to make sure the koala was sufficiently watered.

He posted, “When I checked on it a while later, the koala had climbed down from its perch higher up and had collapsed in the spray of the sprinkler — wet, but hopefully cooler. It’s still there now. There’s a tub of water nearby and he was licking the wet branches — he must have been dehydrated because they don’t normally do that.”

Maybe next year it’ll get a Slip’n’Slide.

Hot Koala.
