Londoners have a pretty unshakable reputation for being grumpy, unfriendly or just generally miserable when it comes to public transport, and that goes double for the London Underground (which, to be fair, is a nightmarish sweat-pit on the best of days) — but occasionally that reputation is undeserved.
On Tuesday night on the Northern Line, Scott Ross filmed some fellow passengers engaged in a chirpy mass sing-a-long to Bill Withers’ “Lean on Me” — people were dancing, a couple kissed, and some guy even strummed a guitar with the cheery abandon of someone sat around a campfire roasting marshmallows.
Admittedly you’d be hard-pushed to find a scene like this during the 8 a.m. commuting rush, but it does show that London’s tube network isn’t always as gloomy a place as it’s made out to be.
