This stuntman totally nails Hwoarang's moves from 'Tekken'

People have been trying to copy the slick moves from the virtual fighters of video games like Street Fighter and Tekken for years.

In the video above, California-based stuntman Eric Jacobus totally nails the moves of Taekwondo kicker Hwoarang, from the Tekken series.

Jacobus is trained in Taekwondo, Hapkido and boxing, and has been a fan of Tekken since he played it at the arcade in the ’90s.

To film the sequence and get the timing perfect, he spent two afternoons running through various tries.

“Hwoarang’s timing was tough, plus he mostly turns clockwise for his spinning moves, which is the opposite of what I’m used to! So I had to retrain myself,” Jacobus told Mashable.

“Hwoarang’s techniques are more on the modern side of Taekwondo compared with more traditional (styles)… Hwoarang’s flash definitely adds to his popularity,” he said about choosing to imitate the showy character.

This isn’t the first time Jacobus has played a video game fighter over his 16-year stuntman career. He played the character of Stryker in the “Mortal Kombat Legacy” web series, and is planning to film more Tekken sequences for his YouTube channel.
