Toys’R’Us is making a comeback just in time for the holidays
Back in time for Black Friday and the holiday shopping season, everybody’s favorite and original toy store, Toys ‘R’ Us is making its triumphant return.
The company, which declared for bankruptcy and shut down all of its stores across the country in 2018, will open its new storefront at the Westfield Garden State Plaza mall in New Jersey. The 6,500 square-foot store is a fraction of the chain’s former locations that were previously located in the area.
As of today, the first physical brick-and-mortar store is up as well as its online store with toysrus.com. The toy retailer is in a partnership with Target and its website. As there will be fewer products on the shelves, shoppers will be directed to complete transactions via Target.com for items not available in store.
Toy ‘R’ Us’ second store is set to open in Houston, Texas on Dec. 1.
To celebrate, Geoffrey the Giraffe will make his return as the Toys ‘R’ Us mascot and be part of the opening ceremonies at the new store. The shop in New Jersey will welcome shoppers with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. The opening today will be a soft opening ahead of Thanksgiving, but the official grand opening will be on Saturday with in-store events and giveaways.
