Sorry, mom and dad. Sometimes you gotta rock. Adorably.
The Otamatone, the brainchild of Japanese art group Maywa Denki, is quite possibly the best and cutest tiny instrument you’ve ever seen.
The adorable toy is shaped like a smiling music note. To play it, squeeze the smiley-face note’s head while moving your fingers along the stem to adjust the pitch.

The musical toy is very popular in Japan and even won the Japan Toy awards in 2010.

The Otamatone website also offers adorable accessories, like little crowns, for you to decorate your instrument.

You can also find fan videos on the site, including an Otamatone renditions of pop songs like “Wrecking Ball” and “Happy.”
Even though it’s a toy, after watching these videos we could definitely picture someone rising up the pop charts with one of these things.
