Beloved ancient Internet hit 'Charlie the Unicorn' now has a Kickstarter

The original Charlie the Unicorn was a staple of mid-2000s Internet.

It had a simple plot — two dumb unicorns and Charlie visit a magical Liopleurodon, find candy mountain, listen to a musical number by dancing letters, then Charlie gets his kidney stolen. The first episode became one of the first hugely viral online videos.

It’s been 11 years since that initial video, and three since creator Jason Steele has released a short based around the insane characters. On Feb. 23, however, Steele announced a Kickstarter project to fund a 30-minute-long final episode.

In the Kickstarter, Steele claims that he created a roadmap for the series in 2005 and this longer episode is the big finish to Charlie’s story.

With rewards including plush toys ($120) and having a character designed after you ($500), the Kickstarter project has raised nearly double its goal in just two days. So, the finale is funded.

It’s the end of an era, Charlieeeee.
