You Can Visit The Wonderful Land Of Oz
If you’ve ever wanted to enter the merry ol’ land of Oz, then pack your bags because you chance can officially happen this June.
According to ABC 11, the infamous Land of Oz, the famous theme park on Beech Mountain was originally built in 1970, but unfortunately fell on hard times and closed about 10 years later. Since then, it was mainly a popular site for urban explorers seeking out spooky, abandoned sites.
In the early ’90s, the park opened for a day or two at a time for special tours, including the popular “Autumn at Oz” festival. In 2018, the park reopened for six days in June, and now, the theme park will be back again.
This summer, guests can take a “Journey with Dorothy” tour on Thursdays and Fridays in June, as well as Wednesday, June 26 and Friday, July 5, according to the park’s website.
As part of the 45-minute tour, Dorothy Gale herself will lead guests down the yellow brick road through the Land of Oz. There will also be role-playing, and some guests will be chosen to play the roles of the Scarecrow, Tin Man, the Cowardly Lion, the Wicked Witch and Glinda, the good witch.
For those interested in attending the event, tickets for the tour cost $27.50 per person.
