The CW Plans On Bringing Back Classic Character For TV Series
“Supernatural” may be ending but a new supernatural series is on its way to The CW. Among the most anticipated new shows in the Fall 2019 TV season is the network’s adaption of the classic mystery book series Nancy Drew. Details about the show are kept under wraps, but some information as to who was cast and what viewers can expect from the show have been revealed.
The CW’s Nancy Drew will star newcomer Kennedy McKann who will be playing the role of the famous teen detective. Her friends and sidekicks George and Bess will be played by Leah Lewis and Maddison Jaizani, while love interest Nick will be played by Tunji Kasim. Longtime TV vet Scott Wolf has been tapped to play Nancy’s estranged father.
The Nancy Drew series is being helmed by TV powerhouses Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage. Sci-fi writer Noga Landau in on board, Emmy-award winning writer Melinda Hsu Taylor (“Lost” and The CW’s “The Vampire Diaries”) is the showrunner, and director Larry Teng will be directing.
The CW’s adaption of Nancy Drew will have a teen-noir vibe. According to a press release on Deadline, “[Nancy] thought she’d be leaving her hometown for college, but when a family tragedy holds her back another year, she finds herself embroiled in a ghostly murder investigation — and along the way, uncovers secrets that run deeper than she ever imagined. When Nancy ends up a suspect in a murder, it rekindles her love for detective work, even though the clues lead her to believe that a long-dead local girl may be the killer.”
The CW announced that Nancy Drew will premiere on Oct. 9 this Fall, taking the 9 p.m. time slot.
