This student's fake tearjerker of a Christmas ad fooled the internet

Each year, the John Lewis Christmas advert brings the United Kingdom to an emotional standstill. From the little girl who sent presents to the lonesome man on the moon, to the little boy with a penguin for a best friend — there’s not a dry eye in the house when the beloved John Lewis ads air.

A-level student Nick Jablonka has paid the ultimate tribute to the iconic festive ads by creating an ad of his own as part of his media coursework. And it’s safe to say that it’s a tearjerker.

The video went viral over the weekend, fooling hundreds of thousands of hopeful viewers into thinking the John Lewis advert had been released. Little did they know, they’d been watching a teenager’s coursework.

The ad features a snowman and snowwoman who are separated by the unlikeliest of obstacles — a snowglobe. The poor snowman is trapped inside the snowglobe while his love, the snowwoman, is outside in the snow. Trapped inside the snowglobe, he reminisces for the moments they shared together.

But will the two ever be reunited?
