According to close production sources, Warner Bros. is considering Timothée Chalamet or Tom Holland to star as the new Willy Wonka following Johnny Depp and the original Willy Wonka played by Gene Wilder. Warner Bros. has already confirmed some of the major production roles including writer and director.
Simon Rich will be writing the script and Paul King will be directing the ‘Wonka’ project drawing inspiration from the classic children’s novel Charlie and the Chocolate Factory written by Roald Dahl. ‘Wonka’ will be produced by David Heyman and the studio is planning to start production within the next four months.
Both prospective actors for the role of ‘Wonka’ are committed to other roles but it seems that they might have room in their schedule to take on the role of Willy Wonka. Holland is currently filming the third Spider-Man movie but has no other following projects and Chalamet is committed to playing the role of Bob Dylan in “Going Electric” by James Mangold.
