Wine Lovers Are Sure To Love This Hotel
Do you love wine so much that you just want to make yourself at home inside a wine bottle? Well, good news: There is a place for wine lovers where they can experience their favorite wine straight from the wine’s perspective.
The Quinta da Pacheca Estate in Douro, Portugal is a vineyard experience where you can sleep in giant-sized wine barrels just steps from the grounds’ 116-year-old vines.
Situated on nearly 140 acres, the wine barrel guest rooms are fully equipped with luxurious amenities, including private bathrooms, modern fixtures, a walk-in shower, a large round bed, a skylight, a private terrace, Wi-Fi, and air conditioning.
Property owners Paulo Pereira and Maria do Céu Gonçalves designed the 270-square-foot barrel rooms, which are meant to be “[B]old architectural project of suites to reinforce the originality of the wine tourism offered at the site,” a representative for the vineyard said. “In an idyllic romantic setting, these wine barrel rooms will provide visitors a unique experience to the nature and significance of the Douro wine region.”
And if you’re interested in sipping a glass of delicious wine, bottles of red, white, and rosé are stored in an 18th century house, while 15 wine-making facilities are also located across Pereira and do Céu Gonçalves’ land. There is also a restaurant that serves an entire menu of traditional Portuguese dishes created by Chef Carlos Pires.
The barrel rooms typically book for $286 USD a night.
