The nation will mourn the lost lives of the COVID-19 pandemic
Washington D.C. will be hosting a memorial service for all the lives lost to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic at the Lincoln Memorial this evening. President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris will be addressing the nation honoring the memorial service at Lincoln Memorial. The Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool will feature 400 lights to honor the lives lost to COIVD-19 and is the first-ever ground lighting around the reflecting pool.

This memorial comes after Biden’s comprehensive COVID-19 relief plan that was revealed last week addressing the nation on the vaccine distribution plan and the memorial will honor over 400,000 lives lost in the U.S. and 24 million infected. As Biden plans on addressing the nation, exiting President Donald Trump has no public events planned for his last full day in office.
Other states will be participating in the national memorial services commemorating the lives lost in cities across the nation. Boston hospitals will feature amber lighting for the lost lives and a local church features a collection of ribbons signifying 13,600 fatalities of Massachusetts residents.
Landmarks across the nation will feature special lighting for the memorial service including the Empire State Building, Space Needle, and Hartsfield-Jackson International Airpot in Atlanta. The memorial service will include cities, towns, and tribal lands across the U.S. including Wilmington, Charleston, Oakland, Dearborn, Scranton, Miami, Chicago, Las Vegas, Houston, Philadelphia, and more.

The memorial is also located next to the Field of Flags display at the National Mall that represents the American people unable to attend the 2021 Inauguration Ceremony that will start at noon tomorrow.
