Awesome pro surfer with one arm tackles giant wave 6 months after giving birth

Nothing slows down surfer Bethany Hamilton.

Six months after having her first child, Hamilton, who lost one of her arms in a shark attack in 2003, finally achieved one of her biggest dreams. She surfed one of the biggest waves in Hawaii: the Pe’ahi, also known as “Jaws.”

“I quickly realized, wow this is my chance to have my dreams come true, this is it!” Hamilton wrote in a Facebook post on Tuesday.

The gigantic Maui wave rose about 40 feet before breaking. Many surfers consider it almost impossible to ride swells like this.

However, Hamilton seems to drift along the gargantuan wave with incredible ease. “Before towing into these waves, I would just breath deep and focus on what I was going to do. I believed in my ability. As I was dropping in, I would focus on drawing my line and read,” she wrote on Facebook.

YouTube channel The Inertia caught her ride on video (watch above).

Hamilton’s son, Tobias, is also taking to the water quite nicely. The new mom shared a picture of her newborn showing off his surfing skills on her Instagram last week:
