One area firefighter is spreading holiday cheer in the form of fun pillow fights while dressed as Buddy the Elf! Brendan Edwards, 27, who lives in Milford and works as a firefighter for a department outside of Boston, took his love of the Will Ferrell holiday comedy to Faneuil Hall, Boston Common, and Newbury Street recently and challenged random passersby to pillow fights.
As a firefighter with a passion for making short comedy videos, he wanted to spread Christmas cheer.
“We’ve released some videos here and there this year, so we said, ‘Let’s do one for Christmas. What can we do to spread Christmas cheer?’” Edwards told Boston.com. “So we came up with pillow fights with strangers featuring Buddy the Elf.”
A video that was uploaded online has made the rounds on social media and various news outlets. It garnered over 45,000 views and roughly 790 shares on Edwards’s Facebook page. In the video, Edwards was met with a variety of challengers.
Sullivan said he got some inspiration from one of his favorite movies. “I love Will Ferrell anything,” Sullivan said. “For Will Ferrell to come out with Buddy the Elf, it’s just like an iconic character now for Christmas.”
The last time Edwards took his comedy public was when he dressed as a hot dog and asked people random questions.
