South Korean boy band BTS are making impressive strides for the K-pop industry and they show no signs of stopping any time soon. The group has gained so much fame and recognition in the United States that they made history by becoming the first K-pop act to make the cover of Time magazine. Apart from topping the U.S. charts this year, the seven-member group was among the magazine’s list of ‘Next Generation Leaders.’
The South Korean group topped the American Billboard music charts, sold out a U.S. stadium and even performed for South Korean president Moon Jae In and other dignitaries in Paris at a special concert held on Oct. 14 to represent friendly relations between France and South Korea.
The Oct. 22 edition of Time magazine featuring BTS on the cover officially went on sale on Monday and fans everywhere have been rushing to get their hands on a copy. “In just five hours, 2,000 copies were sold while a total of 13,000 copies secured by the magazine’s distributor sold out before official sales even began on Monday.”
Beforehand, Time posted a report titled “How BTS Is Taking Over the World”on the magazine’s website on Oct. 10 and included a video of an interview with the band members.
According to the report, the seven-member group is “the most popular boy band in the world,” as they have been breaking new ground by setting records in the U.S. and all across Asia, “without catering to Western audiences.”
BTS is pretty much rocking the world with their hits songs, passion and talented members. The group is currently on a sold-out tour across Europe with plans to head to Japan in November.
