Derek Zoolander and Hansel crash Weekend Update to bash political fashion
Weekend Update just got the political fashion correspondents we’ve always wanted — Derek Zoolander and Hansel.
Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson dropped by Saturday Night Live to give hot takes on presidential candidates’ fashion choices in the episode hosted by Larry David and the results were exactly what you’d imagine.
“As you know, they just had the Iowa couscous, which I skipped because I don’t eat carbs,” said Stiller, in character.
So what did they think?
“Hillary’s style reminds me of one of my all-time favorite fashion icons, Kim Jong-un,” began Zoolander, “not to name drop, but I’m pretty good friends with his sister, Kim Kardashi-un.”
Trump arguably got it the worst, with the duo calling him a “hot mess” and referring to his particular look as “orange mocha crappuccino.”
Even guest star Bernie Sanders didn’t get off easy, with Zoolander saying: “Bernie is a champion of the 99 percent — apparently the 99 percent off at J.C. Penny.”
As for Ted Cruz? Well, they thought he was Tom Cruise, who’d simply let himself go. “Makes me want to keep my eyes wide shut,” said Hansel.
