“Halloween” Breaks October Box Office

As it should be because our ‘scream queen’ is back and better than ever! Plus, it’s Halloween!

The new “Halloween” movie brought back Jamie Lee Curtis and Nick Castle and has officially hit theatres this weekend. The movie, which was expected to be a box office smash, projecting to make $50 million or more for its opening weekend in the U.S.

In actuality, “Halloween” broke the October box office and is on its way to making $70 million or more over the weekend. The movie scored just above the opening day for “Venom” with $32.5 million.

The R-rated movie only cost about $10 million to make, but with the way things are looking, it could end up being enormously profitable.

David Gordon Green, who previously directed Seth Rogen’s stoner movie “Pineapple Express” as well as Sandra Bullock’s film “Our Brand Is Crisis,” directed the new “Halloween.”

Jamie Lee Curtis reprises her role as Laurie Strode, but as an older version that has prepared every day of her life since her first encounter with Michael Myers to fight against the masked murderer and kill him.

Nick Castle, who played Michael Myers in the original, also returned for the new “Halloween,” and John Carpenter, who directed 1978’s “Halloween,” served as the new film’s creative consultant.
