Korean Rice Face Masks Offer Numerous Health Benefits

The magical liquid called rice water has been around for centuries. It is fermented water used as a beauty potion by women around the world, particularly those in East Asia. Increasing in popularity for its ability to treat skin and numerous health benefits, rice water can now be found in a plethora of beauty products available today.

Rice water is literally the water remaining after soaking or boiling rice. What many may not know is that this cloudy white liquid has some of the most powerful vitamins and minerals, all of which are an excellent source of nourishment for the skin and hair.

Women in China, Japan, Korean and Southeast Asia have used this miracle elixir for centuries to wash and rinse their hair because of how long their hair grew and how luscious it became.

Rice water is also great for the face because of all its vitamins, minerals and amino acids, which are essential for beautiful skin. Using rice water face masks is a hot trend among beauty enthusiasts, and they can easily be made in the comfort of one’s home.

To make your own rice water beauty elixir, all you need is uncooked rice and water. First rinse the rice with about a cup of water to remove any dirt or impurities. Then, place the uncooked rice in a bowl and cover it with water. Let the rice soak for 15 to 30 minutes. Swirl it around and lightly knead the rice until the water becomes cloudy. This will help the vitamins and minerals seep into the water, creating a nourishing rinse for your skin and hair.

The final step is to strain out the rice water into a clean bowl or air-tight container. The rice water can be kept in the refrigerator up to a week.

For a DIY face mask, take rice powder or flour and mix it with milk to turn it into a paste. Apply the paste to your face and neck and leave it on for about 20 to 30 minutes. Next, wash the mask off with some warm water and finish it off with cold water to close the pores.

Rice powder helps with anti-aging and anti-wrinkles and treats blemishes, pigmentation and acne. It also makes the skin tone naturally fair and whiter. Because it is a rich source of vitamin B, it helps with growing new cells and slows down the aging process. Rice powder can also protect your skin from the sun and controls oil, making the skin look fresher.
