‘The Gifted’ Is Cancelled
Fox has decided to cancel the Marvel drama “The Gifted” after two seasons. The show was set in the Marvel “X-Men” universe and followed a suburban couple whose ordinary lives are turned upside down by the sudden discovery that their teenage children possess mutant powers. The story follows a family that is forced to go on the run from a hostile government and they seek help from an underground group of mutants, fighting to survive.
The average rating for the second season dropped 0.59 and dropping the average viewership to 1.59 million. The first season of “The Gifted” had 3.31 million total viewers, averaging a 1.9 rating in a key 18-49 demographic.
The series was produced by 20th Century Fox Television — now part of Disney — in association with Marvel Television. The executive producers include Marvels own Jeph Loeb and Jim Chory along with Matt Nix, Bryan Singer, Lauren Shuler Donner, and Simon Kinberg.
“The Gifted” starred Jamie Chung, Emma Dumont, Blair Redford, Stephen Moyer, Amy Acker, Natalie Alyn Lind, Percy Hynes White, Sean Teale, and Coby Bell.
Other titles by FX are also being wrapped up, as both Netflix and Fox say goodbye to their Marvel titles ahead of Disney’s launch its own streaming service this November.
