Every woman treats herself to a nice manicure every now and then, whether it is solid coats of color to cool nail art designs. In a new episode of “Beauty with Mi,” host Mi-Anne talks about how there is a community of people in New York who are getting intense, glitzy 3D nail art. The latest nail trend includes everything from gemstones to fabric to fur.
But 3D nail art is nothing new. Fashion models to regular Instagram users show off their fabulous nails because it’s pretty and trendy. However, a 3D nail manicure can take three or more hours to complete.
On this episode of “Beauty With Mi,” Mi-Anne Chan gets a $300 acrylic manicure by nail artist Mei Kawajiri. Kawajiri has over one hundred thousand followers on Instagram and does nails for some of the biggest fashion houses.
Going for an epic manicure, Mi-Anne only has two requirements: purple nails and a dangling charm. The rest of the design is up to Kawajiri’s imagination. Apart from a little heart charm reflective of Sailor Moon’s brooch, Mi-Anne gets Swarovski crystals on every single nail.
After the manicure session, Mi-Anne sits down with the nail artist and her friend to ask how 3D nails became popular, what makes them cool and more. Mi-Anne then goes on to talk about life after getting her nails done and what daily activities are easy and difficult to do.
