Parrot Keeps Using Amazon’s Alexa To Order Snacks

Parrots are smart creatures, however Rocco the parrot in particular is not only smart but cheeky as well.

Rocco is an African grey parrot that was kicked out the National Animal Welfare Trust sanctuary in the United Kingdom. The parrot was taught to curse by a previous owner. Current owner Marion Wischnewski told The Times she took the parrot in after he was removed from a sanctuary.

Now he has found a friend in Amazon’s Alexa device and enjoys chatting with Alexa on his owner’s Amazon Echo up to 40 times a day. Rocco was recently caught using the virtual assistant to play his favorite music, tell jokes and even order snacks, according to The Times of London.

Rocco has ordered strawberries, watermelon, raisins, broccoli and ice cream, as well as a kite, kettle and light bulbs. Thankfully the device’s parental lock system prevented the clever boy from actually purchasing any items.

In his new home, Rocco has even mastered countless household sounds.

“He knows the telephone and can make different mobile ringtones,” Wischnewski said. “He can do the microwave or the squeaking door on my fridge. He can do the ice cream van in the summer, and a truck reversing so loud you think it’s in your living room.”
