The new season will feature some familiar faces from previous episodes while introducing new characters that will join Rick and Morty in the upcoming episodes.
Season 4 was released last year in March with the season finale in May and Season 5 is expected to follow similar release periods. The co-creator of the animated series, Dan Harmon, revealed the team was working remotely on new episodes amid the COVID-19 pandemic and several industry lockdowns.
