The cast for ‘Cinderella’ is already a dream come true
A lot of people id not see this coming and were confused as to whether Disney was making a sequel to their first live-action “Cinderella” film. In fact, Lily James version of “Cinderella,” which was produced by the House of Mouse actually graced the big theater over four years ago.
But with the trend of remaking classic fairy tales and cartoons into live-action adaptions, Sony is hopping on that bandwagon, and this time, the story will be helmed by UK comedian turned big-time US talk show host James Corden and his production company Fulwell73.
Camilla Cabella has already been cast to play the title character. This will be her debut film role and The Hollywood Reporter said that she will be “integrally involved” in the film’s music. Idina Menzel, who voiced Elsa in “Frozen,” will play the role of the evil stepmother. Tony and Grammy-award winner Billy Porter has been confirmed for the role of the Fairy Godmother, and Pierce Brosnan will play the king.
The film is set to be a musical comedy that will reimagine the traditional “Cinderella” story, making the heroine more of an ambitious young woman whose dreams are bigger than big.
The new Cinderella is tentatively scheduled to debut in theaters on Feb. 5, 2021.
