Passholders Need To Pay Up
Vacationing in the land of magic is going to be a little expensive this year it seems, but that never seems to stop the most passionate Mickey fans. Walt Disney World raised the prices on some of its annual passes, and Disney fans and bloggers had to wake up Tuesday to find that prices for most passes literally went up overnight, some as much as $150 in some cases, according to Orlando NBC affiliate WESH2 and The Orlando Sentinel.
The price increases come ahead of the Aug. 29 opening of Disney World’s Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. The attraction opened up at Disney Land on May 31.
This is the second time Disney World hiked up its prices this year ¬— the first price increase focused on ticket prices around the holidays. In March, the park raised ticket prices for the dates near Christmas and New Year’s Eve to $159, which is up to $30 from last year. Prices for dates around other holidays like Memorial Day and Easter also increased.
According to news sources, Disney’s system sets the prices based on how popular the day is expected to be. For those looking to go all in with the Mouse, the price is $999 for Florida residents and Disney Vacation Club members (up from $849); $1,219 for non-residents (up from $994).
