Skincare For Summer
It’s hot so that means your skin is constantly facing the harshness of the sun’s rays, sweating, and dryness from the heat. But you want the opposite of that; everyone wants their skin to stay clear and glowing all season long. But that takes work and some effort on your part to keep your skin looking healthy.
So, if you’re the type to ask, “Do I really have to moisturize even if it’s 100 degrees out and my face feels oily?” the answer is yes.
You should have a solid skincare routine that is applicable to all seasons and all climates. So naturally, there will be some minor changes when transitioning from winter to summer.
During the summer, your skin-care routine should be more lightweight. So, during the heat and humidity of summer, swap out a heavier cleanser (like a cream or oil cleanser) in favor of a gentle, foaming option.
It’s also good to use a dual-purpose moisturizer during the summer season because not only does it help to lighten things up, but it also protects the skin while keeping it quenched and soft. Using thicker moisturizers can lead to clogged pores, inflammation, and acne. Try using a light moisturizer that contains SPF to help keep the skin clear and protected from the sun.
And yes, despite all the sweating and humidity, you still need to moisturize. Even if your skin already feels oily, you should always cleanse then moisturize. This is because moisturizers reestablish the stratum corneum, or outermost layer of the skin, which protects you from harmful pollutants and chemicals. It will also help with preventing further irritation or dryness.
The latest skincare trend if vitamin C serum and for good reason. Vitamin C helps prevent hyperpigmentation, improves the appearance of fine lines, and helps with collagen production.
And last but night least, don’t forget to hydrate. Aim for eight glasses of water a day as it will help quench the skin and recover after a sunburn.
