Marvel is home to some of the biggest and most successful Hollywood films, so no wonder so many actors want to be a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Recently, Caitlyn Jenner voiced her desire to play a role in a Marvel film.
In an interview with Variety on the issue of transgender Hollywood, Jenner revealed that her dream-acting role would be a villain in a Marvel movie.
“In a Marvel movie, I want to play the baddest-ass lady you’ve ever seen in your life,” Jenner said. “They got the wicked queen or the wicked lady. Just do the makeup and the outfit. And I got the deep voice.”
Most people know Jenner for her public transition as well as her time as part of the Kardashian family. But Jenner is no stranger to acting. She appeared in several made-for-TV movies in the early 1980s and even had a guest-starring role as Officer Steve McLeish for six episodes of the police series “CHiPs.” Jenner also auditioned for Superman, but ultimately lost the iconic role to Christopher Reeve.
Jenner expressed relief, however, as she was struggling living as a man, and Superman, perhaps the most visible representation of manhood, would have complicated matters. Jenner recalled that the role would have been too much for her.
“I would have gone down as the most macho guy in the world, and that’s not me. It’s not even close to me, “ Jenner said.
There are many intense and fierce female villains in the Marvel universe, but the role Jenner could play would depend on a lot of factors, including which franchise. Jenner claimed that she wanted to “play the baddest-ass lady,” but many fans agree that Cate Blanchett already took the top spot, leaving behind her legacy in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the powerful Hela in “Thor: Ragnarok.”
There is speculation that Jenner would have a better chance at playing a female villain in the X-men world, but the decision would ultimately be up to Disney.
