Carl’s Jr. Adds Cannabis To Their Menu
On Saturday, Carl’s Jr. will debut their highly anticipated CBD-infused “Rocky Mountain High: CheeseBurger Delight” at a single location in Denver.
The CBD burger will be available for $4.20 during the one-day test — which just so happens to fall on the marijuana holiday April 20. Should the test prove successful, Carl’s Jr. would become the first major fast-food chain to offer a cannabis-infused menu item.
The new menu item dubbed the Rocky Mountain High Cheese Burger Delight contains CBD-infused “Santa Fe Sauce,” two beef patties, pepper jack cheese, pickled jalapenos, and fries.
Since launching the popular vegan Beyond Meat burger in January, Carl’s Jr. has been working on the CBD burger according to Carl Jr.’s senior vice president of brand marketing, Patty Trevino.
The Denver location was the perfect spot for the 4/20 test spot since Colorado legalized recreational marijuana in 2014. As part of the test, Carl’s Jr. will be monitoring sales and customer and franchisee responses.
Trevino said that is everything is successful and things look good, expanding the test could be an option — with the possibility of rolling out a CBD-infused burger for one day across the US.
“If anyone is going to do it, I would want Carl’s Jr. to do it,” Trevino said in a statement.
