The Newest Anime Show On Netflix
A brand-new anime will be hitting the famous streaming-service next month and it is helmed by one of anime’s well-known names. Starting Aug. 30, the first half of Shinichirō Watanabe’s Martian musical comedy “Carole & Tuesday” will be available for legal streaming in the US on Netflix, as announced by the company on Twitter.
“Carole & Tuesday” follows the story of two girls living in a futuristic world in which Mars has been successfully colonized. Carole is a street musician living in Alba City, otherwise considered the major Martian metropolis. While performing one day, she meets Tuesday, a runaway, guitar-playing daughter of a politician. Together, they struggle to find their voice in a musical world that is monopolized by AI music writing and production.
The original anime cast Japanese voice actors, but the majority of songs from the series were recorded by English-speaking artists including Nai Br.XX, Celeina Ann, and Thundercat. It was reported that Netflix will not re-dub any of the songs for the series.
As of right now, the second half of the series has already started airing in Japan as part of the summer anime season. It is unknown when the second half will make its way over to the streaming service in the US.
