If you live in any major city you know all too well that on top of a busy day there is absolutely no way to avoid the fast paced lifestyle that comes along with it. After long hours at the office, family to take care of, and errands to run, there just seems to be no time to catch a break. Vacation…what’s that? If this sounds like you then it might be the perfect time to take a little time for yourself and relax for once. And we have just the place for you to go, the islands of Okinawa!

Now that I’ve spilled the secret there is a couple things that you should know about the Okinawa, just in case you need a little more convincing. Okinawa is a group of sub-tropical islands in the south of Japan. This little hidden destination is filled with history, breathtaking beaches, great food, and warm-hearted locals with an authentic way of living. Psst….it’s also said to be the happiest and healthiest place on earth and there’s a reason for that! The locals are so content and happy with where they live and their laid back lifestyle, making this destination a slice of heaven on earth.
If you’ve dreamed of traveling, this secret spot is the place for you and defiantly a number one choice on anyones bucket list. Just to name a few local favorites to check out when you head to the islands is Zanpa Point and Hokusai Street (New Paradise Street). Let’s start with Zanpa Cape located in the middle of Okinawa Island. At the very tip of the point stars a tall white lighthouse, majestic in its solitary dignity. The surrounding area is covered with thickets of Adan trees and the typical coastal vegetation. It’s also a great place to relax and fish. This is the local fishermans favorite secret spot on the island. What captures most tourists eyes however is the high Shisa lion-dog who guards the entrance to Zanpa Misaki Recreation Plaza where you can find recreational activities for you and your family to enjoy.
And after a day full of adventure and fun you can head to the shopping center in Naha City, Hokusai Street and New Paradise streets behind the Matsui bus stop. When you stop by this spot you are bound to see traditional and modern craft shops, souvenir shops, cafes, and restaurants serving traditional island food every few meters. The entire area is a magnet for shoppers and for more unique purchases the little back streets can offer some real finds.

Now that you know two top spots not the island it’s time to book your getaway of a lifetime. Regular flights from major domestic airports such as Narita International Airport, Haneda Airport, Central Japan International Airport, and Kansai International Airport to Okinawa’s getaway Naha Airport operate daily….enjoy!
