The next installment in the superhero series may be coming sooner than anticipated
It was previously reported that Scott Derrickson’s follow up to “Doctor Strange” would release sometime in 2021. However, Deadline recently reported that it could come as soon as next year.
Well, fans will soon find out enough because Marvel will announce its 2020 release schedule at the end of this month or in May, following the release of “Avengers: Endgame.” Rumors are circulating that both Doctor Strange and Widow are to be released next year.
The introduction to “Doctor Strange” in 2016 to the Marvel Cinematic Universe changed the dynamic of the franchise with the debut of Benedict Cumberbatch. Since his first movie, Cumberbatch has appeared in several other Marvel movies including “Infinity War” and “Thor Ragnarok.”
Plot details for the second installment of Doctor Strange are pretty scarce, but we do know that Chiwetel Ejiofor would be back in some capacity as Mordo, given the post-credit scene from the previous movie. It was also said by C. Robert Cargill that they had talked about wanting to use the villain Nightmare, but that remains to be seen.
Despite the little details Disney and Marvel have revealed about any upcoming superhero films, which is understandable since they don’t want to spoil any potential surprises beyond Endgame, Disney has flagged two release dates for MCU movies. One on May 1, 2020, and the other on November 6, 2020.
