K-Pop Star Plans For Retirement
K-pop may be big, but have you ever hear Korean hip-hop? One of the biggest names in this genre of Korean music is Jay Park. Park is a Korean American singer, songwriter, rapper, record producer and much more. He is a member of the Seattle-based b-boy crew, Art of Movement (AOM), and founder and CEO of the independent hip hop record label AOMG.
Park initially rose to fame as the leader of South Korean boy band 2 PM, formed by record label JYP Entertainment in 2008. However, Park officially left the group in early 2010. Since then, Park has gone on to garner international fame.
But earlier this week, the Korean American artist took to Twitter to drop a bombshell on fans. He basically announced that he’s retiring from the entertainment industry.
“I’m gonna retire in a couple of years – this is a promise to you guys and myself. Not a lot of space for guys like me left in this game.,” Park tweeted.
Fans were left wondering if this was just a really late April’s Fool joke or if the 31-year-old rapper really is tying up some loose ends before officially leaving the entertainment industry.
Either way, the talented and suave Jay Park will surely be missed.
