Jelly Belly Unveils CBD Jelly Beans
It’s been almost 40 years since Jelly Belly creator David Klein sold his stake in the world-famous company, but “USA Today” reports that the man who first thought to put natural fruit flavor into jelly beans has made a comeback with a new and modern idea. Klein has launched a line of sweets infused with the cannabis-derived compound cannabidiol, just in time for April 20th.
Klein’s latest venture, Spectrum Confections, has concocted CBD-infused jelly beans in 38 flavors, including cinnamon, spicy licorice, mango, toasted marshmallow, piña colada, and strawberry cheesecake. Each bean contains 10 mg of CBD and can be ordered online. The jellybeans are available in regular, sugar-free, and sour packs of 800. Although each bean contains 10 mg of CBD, it lacks the mind-altering effects of THC, so eating them won’t leave the consumer incapacitated.
Since creating Jelly Belly jellybeans in 1976, Cannabis Aficionado reported that Klein has continued to make candy despite selling the brand in 1980. Klein told the publication he looked into CBD jellybeans after learning about its perceived benefits.
“I said to myself, ‘is anybody doing a jelly bean with CBD?’” Klein said.
The jellybeans have been selling like hot cakes, and are currently out of stock. However, customers can fill out a contact form on the website.
