New Member Added To The Fast And Furious Franchise
The exciting movie franchise has yet to come to an end, but to spice things up a bit, a new face has been added to the lineup. John Cena is the latest movie star to join the popular “Fast and Furious” franchise, which is going into its ninth installment.
“For nearly 20 years, the Fast Franchise has entertained fans and created some of the biggest cinematic moments in history. It’s an incredible honor to join this franchise and this family,” Cena wrote on Twitter, retweeting a story published by Deadline.
Other than the big reveal that he would be joining veterans Vin Diesel and Michelle Rodriguez, both of whom are reprising their roles as Dom Toretto and Letty Ortiz, Cena’s role in the film has been kept under wraps.
Also returning for “Fast and Furious 9” is Jordana Brewster as Mia Toretto, Dom’s sister, as well as Tyrese Gibson in the role of Roman Pearce.
Previously, Michelle Rodriguez teetered on her decision on whether to return for the movie or not. She threatened to walk away from the franchise in June 2017 unless the studios called for a female writer to work on the next film. In the end, Universal Pictures complied with her request and hired a female writer. Rodriguez made it a point that the film and the franchise on and off screen needed to have more of a female voice.
