It’s all over for the original Captain Jack Sparrow, probably “Pirates of the Caribbean” most notable character for which actor Johnny Depp has become famously known for.
In an interview with DailyMail TV, original screenwriter Stuart Beattie confirmed the news that Depp’s time as the star of the series was over.
“I think he’s had a great run,” Beattie said. “Obviously, he’s made that character his own, and it’s become the thing that he’s most famous for now. And kids all over the world love him as that character, so I think it’s been great for him. It’s been great for us, so I’m just very, very happy about it.”
Depp, 55, has played Captain Jack Sparrow in five films over the course of 15 years in the Disney franchise, with his most recent film being 2017’s “Dead Men Tell No Tales.”
As many fans probably know, the ending scene in “Dead Men Tell No Tales” suggested that more films were to come, and Disney pretty much confirmed this as it was reported that the studio is considering rebooting the series by drafting in “Deadpool” writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick.
Depp on the other hand, will be appearing in the next installment of J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter prequel “Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald.”
