“Operation Varsity Blues” documentary coming soon

Netflix will be revealing the “Operation Varsity Blues” investigation that resulted in the 2019 college admissions scandal with a new documentary. “Operation Varsity Blues: The College Admissions Scandal” documentary will feature real evidence from the FBI investigation into the 2019 nationwide scandal in which rich influential parents could pay for their child to gain admission into coveted universities.

The documentary will reveal how the leader of the college admissions bribery scam, Rick Singer, would provide the means to cheat the college admissions system including fabricating fake athletic profiles with photoshopped images, bribing school officials, and enabling students to cheat on their college admissions tests. Singer’s client list revealed dozens of rich parents paying at least six to seven figures for his services that ultimately caught the attention of the FBI.

The FBI launched an investigation known as “Operation Varsity Blues” collecting evidence through wiretaps recording Singer orchestrating the action needed to cheat the college admissions system with his clients. Singer’s most high-profile celebrity clients including Felicity Huffman from “Desperate Housewives” as well as Lori Loughlin who played Aunt Becky on “Full House” and her husband, fashion designer Mossimo Giannulli.

Both Huffman and Loughlin served time for their illegal actions with Singer pleading guilty to charges of obstruction, racketeering, money laundering, and fraud. Matthew Modine will be portraying Singer in the documentary with the director Chris Smith who is known as the filmmaker of the Netflix “Fyre: The Greatest Party That Never Happened” documentary as well as the executive producer of “Tiger King.”

The documentary will be based on real recordings of FBI wiretaps in Singer’s own words detailing how he would pull “side-door” admissions and leading to the largest college admissions scam ever prosecuted by the Department of Justice with over 50 indicted for this crime. “Operation Varsity Blues: The College Admissions Scandal” will debut on Netflix on March 17 and promises to reveal the college admissions scandal in a new light.
