Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe visited the White House on Tuesday to discuss free trade — and, apparently, anime.
“Today is a chance for Americans, especially our young people, to say thank you for all the things we love from Japan. Like karate and karaoke. Manga and anime. And, of course, emojis,” President Barack Obama said as the two leaders addressed the press.
Shortly after the prime minister arrived in Washington on Monday, Obama took Abe on a tour of the Lincoln Memorial, where they probably took a break from discussing trade regulations to talk about how messed up Attack on Titan is.

Sad that, in addition to karate, karaoke, and emojis as Japanese contributions to American society, Obama also didn’t mention RAMEN #impeach

The meeting between Obama and Abe dealt largely with a firming up a large trade agreement involving the United States and a dozen Pacific Rim nations. We’re hoping it will end with a night of karaoke, Sailor Moon and texting each other the new diverse emoji from different rooms in the White House.
